Teacher To Student: "You Were Good"

A former teacher's aide in Polk County faces criminal charges for having sex with a student.
Investigators say 39-year-old Brenda Baillargeon worked at the Amery High School. That's where the 16 year-old boy she's accused of assaulting went to school.
Baillargeon now faces 3 counts of sexual assault of a student by school staff and 2 counts of child enticement with sexual contact.
Court documents show she and the 16 year-old boy had sex ten times and were engaged to be married. Court records show the teen's mother got a restraining order against Baillargeon, but the relationship continued.
The Amery School Administrator tells us she resigned September 27th and hasn't been back to school since. He says while no one is happy about this situation, he wants parents to know they have a safe school.
Stephen Schiell says, "our schools are safe, have always been safe. Our number one concern is our kids, our students learning, and that's what we've been doing in Amery for many, many years and we will continue to do that for many years, and we're always worried about our kids."
The Polk County Sheriff says as of Thursday evening Baillargeon was still in jail on $10,000 dollars bond. She will make her initial court appearance Friday morning.

Peel police say the 35-year-old Notre Dame Secondary School teacher and the teen were engaged in explicit messages sent over the Internet.
The notes were sent from their homes, not at school, Det.-Sgt. Greg Knapton, of the special victims unit, told CTV.ca.
Knapton said one count of sexual assault was been laid with respect to an alleged incident at school.
"There was contact -- it was basically a touching," said Knapton, who wouldn't elaborate.
Knapton said the alleged acts are criminal because the teacher is in a position of trust and the boy cannot legally consent because he is not 18 years old.
The special education teacher has been suspended with pay, said Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board spokesperson Bruce Campbell.
"The allegations are very disturbing and the alleged behaviour is very inappropriate," Campbell told CTV News.
Dina Calautti was arrested at her Mississauga home on Tuesday. She is charged with:

Kelley resigned last spring when the allegations came out in the open.
Thorsby, 34, is charged with three counts of statutory rape by an authority figure, two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and two counts of exploitation of a minor by electronic means. Prosecutors presented the case to a grand jury on Nov. 5.
A report by Williamson County Detective Grant Benedict accused the former art teacher of having had sexual contact with a student “at various times at her school and home” between Nov. 11, 2006 and March 30, 2007.
Thorsby was arrested on May 15 and charged then with sexual battery by an authority figure. School officials suspended Thorsby without pay on May 11, after she admitted to displaying conduct unbecoming of a teacher.
In May, Williamson County Sheriff Ricky Headley said Thorsby told school officials she’d been having an inappropriate relationship with a female student. Headley said the relationship began as a friendship but turned sexual.
The girl turned 18 in March. Her parents uncovered the relationship after finding a message in her room, Headley said. The parents went to school officials.
Thorsby remains free on $10,000 bail. She is living in Columbia, according to court documents.

A 13-year-old illegal immigrant who fled to his native Mexico amid a sex scandal with his schoolteacher could be eligible to return to the United States under a new visa the government started granting the week before he disappeared.
The visa helps illegal immigrants who are victims of sex crimes. If the boy, who spent most of his life in Lexington, Neb., qualifies, he could stay legally in the United States for four years and eventually apply for permanent residency. It also would extend temporary residency to his parents and his unmarried siblings under 18, if they applied for it.
"It's a win-win," U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services spokeswoman Marilu Cabrera said of the so-called "U" visa. "It helps us and law enforcement be able to solve a crime, and it certainly helps the individual who is a victim of a crime."
The boy and middle school teacher Kelsey Peterson were found in a mall parking lot in the border town of Mexicali, Mexico, 1,500 miles from where the pair disappeared on Oct. 26. Authorities searched for them for one week.
Peterson, 25, remains in federal custody in El Centro, Calif. A judge denied bail for her Wednesday, and she was expected to be sent back to Nebraska to face federal charges of crossing state lines to have sex with a minor, which is punishable by 10 years to life in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The Associated Press had previously named the boy but later removed his name from stories because the most recent charges allege he was the victim of a sex crime.
The boy told the AP earlier this week that he would be willing to return to the United States to testify against Peterson.
"That's something that we would have to consider as circumstances came up," said Joe Stecher, the U.S. attorney for Nebraska. "There are various methods that we could secure his presence here for testimony purposes, and we'll just deal with the circumstances as they come up."
Dawson County Attorney Elizabeth Waterman did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
Cabrera said a conviction would not be necessary for the boy to qualify for the visa.
"It doesn't matter what the outcome of the case is as long as they cooperate," she said.
A law enforcement agency, prosecutor or judge in the Peterson case would have to vouch for the boy and say he helped in investigating or prosecuting Peterson in order for the boy to qualify.
The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000 established "U" visas to encourage illegal immigrants to report crimes against them. Cabrera said reviews of the rules by the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice delayed issuing the visas until this year.
